Arctic P402 Dynamic Supra-Aural Headset Review

The Arctic P402 headset is pretty good, I was expecting it to be pretty useless if I’m honest (sorry Arctic). While the performance isn’t amazing it is more than I expected for this price range and the headset isn’t without its charms.
Build quality isn’t amazing but it is certainly more robust that the bulk of headsets on the market. The simplistic construction means there is less to break but also helps keep weight down and durability up. The headband especially is rather tough and not likely to snap with ease, but is still light and flexible. The low weight and size is also fantastic for those who like to just check their headsetis in their backpack or squash them into their pocket. Which is something that is likely given the mobile support for the headset and that most people purchasing this will be either using it with their phone, MP3 player or portable gaming device.
Sound quality is about on par with the majority of headsets in this price range and in some cases a little better. There isn’t much to really shout about when it comes to audio performance until you start spending twice as much money but in the same light there isn’t really anything wrong with the audio on the P402 either, I think we’ll call these slightly above average in terms of audio performance.
Style wise the headset doesn’t look too bad either, a lot of people are more and more style conscious when it comes to their gadgets and while they aren’t the best looking set in the world, I don’t think you’ll need to hide them under a hood to wear them out in public. I quite like their style, but style is a very subjective quality and differs from person to person.
Everyone loves a good bargain and with a price of just under £20 the Arctic P402 is good value for money. Good performance, build quality and a reasonable amount of style in the design is more than you could normally ask for from a £20 set of headphones, which is why I am happy to award the Arctic P402 headset with our Bang For Buck Award.
