Argos Launch Own-brand Budget Tablet Called MyTablet

Argos are quite late to the Android party, but that hasn’t stopped them from producing their own budget friendly device in time for the holiday season. This is just weeks after another UK retailer, Tesco, launched their own android tablet.

The 7″ device will retail for around £100, will run Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and come pre-loaded with apps such as Angry Birds and BBC iPlayer. It will be available in both pink and silver, and the specs and style of the device are targeted right at the 8-13 year old market, as the devices also come pre-set with parental controls enabled.

While it may not be the best performing device ever with a 1.6GHz dual-core processors, a 1024 x 600 resolution LCD glass screen, 8GB of memory, Wi-Fi and BlueTooth, it isn’t exactly garbage either and it’s certainly a cheaper and likely more responsible option as a Christmas gift for a child than something like an iPad.

Branding is everything on this device as while it maybe targeted at a younger audience, it is still a capable device that falls in line with similar price products from the likes of Asus, Amazon, HP and more.

Thank you BBC for providing us with this information.
