A Closer Look

With the memory out of the box we can get a closer look at its design. The design is very asymmetrical and features sharp lines and angles and what looks like a fairly deep engraving of an Asgard text logo as well as three shallower engraved lines at the bottom that are filled with a gold colour finish. In the centre of the memory is a golden plate that features a simple logo, with the entirety of this plate being a very shiny gold and may be the reason that gloves were included.

From a top down perspective, which is more like what you see when it’s installed in your system, we see the top of the RGB light bar and a small gold plaque that has black text on it saying “AESIR”.

With the DIMM free of it’s heatspreader, we can see that it’s a single sided stick of memory with eight D-Ram chips, each being 2GB in capacity. We can also see the voltage regulator here as part of the new DDR5 spec.

The big change going from DDR4 to DDR5 is the move of the voltage regulator off of the motherboard and onto the RAM itself, and here we can see a closer look at it.

Taking a better look at the DRAM module itself reveals to us that it uses Micron ICs with the part number IQA45 D8BNJ I3PY. Not much is known about these chip as of yet because at the time of writing there isn’t even a page about these chips on Microns official website.

The other side of the DIMM is dedicated entirely to the RGB and its controller. The RGB consists of eight LEDs, though only four or five even have any major effect given the solid section of the heat spreader covering it with a small “ASGARD” cut out that light can shine through. I personally would have liked if the light bar had stretched across the whole DIMM myself.

Having a quick closer look at the LED controller shows us the traces going from the Ene branded controller to the LEDs themselves.
