We have heard a lot about upcoming ASRock motherboards, more so than any other motherboard vendor. We have seen their entire Haswell motherboard line up, we have heard that select ASRock Haswell motherboards will be water proof, we have seen in detail the Z87 Extreme 4 and Z87 Pro 3 and we have heard that ASRock were the first motherboard vendor to pass Intel’s Thunderbolt certification for Haswell 8 series motherboards.
Now we get some more details about the ASRock Z87 motherboards and what features they will include. We already saw from the complete line up exposé that some models would be equipped with 802.11ac Wi-Fi but now we know more details. According to ASRock their “A-Style” motherboards are going to be getting integrated 802.11ac Wi-Fi and integrated Bluetooth 4.0 onto the motherboard. In addition some models will also come with the below ASRock Wi-SD front tray which includes four USB 3.0 ports, an SD 3.0 card slot and some kind of Wi-Fi amplifier to aid the onboard 802.11ac Wi-Fi add-in card in getting a better signal. All 802.11ac motherboard models will probably include a Wireless adapter (that square half triangle thing in the picture above) should you not want to use the below add-in front tray.
ASRock is boasting about the 289% speed boost with 802.11ac compared to 802.11n Wi-Fi, although you will only be able to notice this difference if you have an 802.11ac compatible router and you find yourself needing to move files wirelessly around your network faster than 300mbps.
ASRock haven’t disclosed which motherboards will get this, we simply know “A-Series” motherboards will get it. Expect more to be announced when Intel’s Haswell and the 8 series chipset is launched in early June for Computex 2013.
