ASRock has a pretty substantial array of LGA1151 motherboards designed for users requiring different form factors and contrasting budgets. In a similar vein to both ASUS and MSI, ASRock has released BIOS updates for their 100-series motherboards to make them compatible with Intel’s upcoming architecture, codenamed Kaby Lake. Please note, the support list includes popular motherboards like the Z170 Extreme6+ and Z170 Pro 4. As you can see, Kaby Lake will be perfectly functional on the Z170, H170, B150 and H110 chipsets. This level of backwards compatibility is fantastic and provides the consumer with the freedom to upgrade or hunt down heavily discounted Z170 motherboards once the Kaby Lake replacements arrive. Here is the full list of supported motherboards:
I’m pleased to see so many motherboard makers release the BIOS updates ahead of Kaby Lake’s release. This gives consumers the opportunity to update any LGA1151 products before the launch and easily slot in a new processor without any issues. Of course, the number of people upgrading from Skylake to Kaby Lake is probably very slim unless there’s a shocking performance improvement which seems highly unlikely. Despite this, it’s always welcome to have additional options just in case anyone wants to change their hardware configuration.
