ASRock Could Make NVIDIA GPUs, But Has No Current Plans

ASRock are a leading name for computer hardware primarily with motherboards, mini PCs and GPUs of which they manufacturer for both AMD and more recently Intel. With 2/3 of the GPU manufacturers under their belt, the question is there on whether they intend on also manufacturing NVIDIA GPUs and today that question has been answered.

ASRock NVIDIA Cards?

An interview was conducted by Korean site quasarzone (Via VideoCardz) which covered various questions about ASRock and its future and current product lines. One of these questions asked “are there any plans to include NVIDIA graphics cards?” which was followed with this translated response from ASRock:

“This is quite a challenging question. Companies that have both NVIDIA and AMD are ASUS, GIGABYTE and MSI. These brands have been in operation for a longer time than us, and back when they were founded, there were not only ATI and NVIDIA, but also chipset manufacturers like Elsa and Voodoo. No one had a monopolistic position at that time. However, as time passed, NVIDIA’s market dominance became overwhelming, and a world where the production of NVIDIA VGA became influential emerged. I believe there are complex reasons for this. From the perspective of ASRock, currently producing AMD and Intel VGA, it seems challenging for us to immediately start manufacturing NVIDIA VGA.”

The possibility of an ASRock NVIDIA card has not been ruled out here, however it is clear that it is not something that is currently being planned. With NVIDIA holding such a high market share, it would be quite a substantial change in their product stack and many adjustments will need to be made.
