ASRock N3150 Braswell Motherboard Round-up Review

SATA, M.2 and USB Performance

To test the storage performance in our motherboard reviews we use AIDA’s Disk Benchmark utility built into their AIDA64 Engineer Edition software package and run linear read and write tests. We run each of the benchmark tests on a SATA III, USB 3.0 and M.2 device. For SATA III testing we use a SanDisk Extreme Pro 240GB, for USB 3.0 testing we use the Supersonic Magnum 256 GB USB 3.0 flash drive and for M.2 testing we use Plextor’s 256GB M.2 M6e SSD. The drives are always formatted before use.

There’s not really much that can go wrong with SATA 6 and USB 3.0, they are rated at a specific speed and will get within 10-15% of that speed regardless of the motherboard/ CPU (assuming they accept the format).

  1. I’m thinking that psu is so overboard for the these Braswell’s that the power consumption is questionable. I doubt even a normally efficient psu is working well at such a fraction of its capability.
It also would have been interesting to see them up against something more relevant – like j1900/j2900 boards or the like.
Still, a lot of information here. Thanks.
