ASRock N3150 Braswell Motherboard Round-up Review

CPU Performance

Cinebench

CINEBENCH is a real-world cross-platform test suite that evaluates your computer’s CPU performance. Cinebench R15 is a totally free utility and is available for download here.

Well, that’s just what I was expecting, but I didn’t actually know how far behind it was going to be. I added in the additional benchmark with the R9 290X to show that CPU performance wasn’t affected from the swap from IGP to discrete GPU. When the Power Gear technology was enabled, the Normal and Sport modes were very similar, but the Eco mode does what I expected and reduced the performance; hopefully reduced it and the power consumption.

WPrime

wPrime is a leading multithreaded benchmark for x86 processors that tests your processor performance by calculating square roots with a recursive call of Newton’s method for estimating functions. wPrime is a free utility that is available for download here.

Similar story here, although there is a larger margin between the ITX boards and the microATX board.

SiSoft Sandra

The SiSoft Sandra Dhrystone and Whetstone benchmarks are widely used measures of compute power and performance for a wide array of real-world usage scenarios. You can find out more details on these tests here or download SiSoft Sandra here.

All 3 boards scoring almost exactly the same here.

  1. I’m thinking that psu is so overboard for the these Braswell’s that the power consumption is questionable. I doubt even a normally efficient psu is working well at such a fraction of its capability.
It also would have been interesting to see them up against something more relevant – like j1900/j2900 boards or the like.
Still, a lot of information here. Thanks.
