To date, while the Intel Arc A380 has been available to purchase in China for a little over a month, the only option consumers have had is a third-party custom design from GUNNIR. Last month, however, information appeared online suggesting that ASRock was set to officially become the second manufacturer of custom A380 graphics cards.
Would this actually happen though? Well, following a report via TechPowerUp, the answer is yes as ASRock has officially confirmed the release of its custom Arc A380 GPU. The only downside is that, like the formerly exclusive model from GUNNIR, this is currently a China-only release!
In terms of specifications and key features, there doesn’t appear to be much separating the ASRock A380 from the GUNNIR A380 which, on the whole, does seem to suggest that ‘custom’ models may ultimately mostly just boil down to aesthetics surrounding an overall similar reference design.
In fact, the only notable difference we see here is that this new ASRock release does seem to offer a slightly slimmer design in comparison. – In terms of success though, the compact single-slot design of the Intel Arc A380 might be the one key aspect that makes this a hugely attractive GPU. – Put simply, for modern designs, there are very few GPUs that can still fit within a single-slot port. As such, for people looking for SFF gaming builds, the Intel Arc A380 might well prove to be a hugely popular choice.
At this point though, I think we’re all pretty much waiting for the same thing. Namely, for these graphics cards to finally escape China and actually get a general worldwide release. As for when that will happen though?… Well, for the moment, Intel still seems to want to keep us guessing!
For the moment though, you can check out the official ASRock China Arc A380 website via the link here!
