ASRock Rolls Out Intel Optane Support via BIOS Updates for 200 Series Mobos

Intel’s Optane memory storage products have been released, available for purchase by the public this week, delivering advanced storage performance via caching compatible with all Intel 200-series motherboards. To enable full support for these Intel Optane memory products for their existing line, ASRock has released BIOS updates so users can take advantage of these features.

Most ASRock 200-series motherboards have already received the BIOS update for Optane compatibility earlier in BIOS version P2.00 but now all of ASRock’s offerings are fully compatible, including the Fatal1ty Z270 Gaming ITX/AC. Intel’s Optane technology is limited to Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 Kaby Lake CPUs or newer and are unfortunately not compatible with Intel Skylake or Kaby Lake Pentium processors. In terms of motherboard compatibility however, it is compatible with all chipsets, not just the Z270 models, but also the entry level B250 and H270 models.

The full list of ASRock motherboards supported is listed below, including the link to their product pages which contains the necessary BIOS update. Users can also choose to install the update via ASRock AppShop directly from the desktop. For more information, visit: http://asrock.com/feature/IntelOptane/
