ASRock X79 Extreme4 X79 Motherboard Review

The box comes in typical ASRock styling with a slight up-market feel to it with the brushed-metal colouring and overall design that the box includes. Some of the main features are listed in logo form towards the bottom.

The rear of the box gives a diagram of the board as well as listing the main features of the board including the ones that are unique to ASRock. They also show the potential behind these features in terms of what they actually do and how the impact over a stock design.

Opening the box up, we find a quick installation guide, software setup guide, driver installation CD, I/O panel shield plate and information leaflet on setting up a RAID configuration.

Also inside we find a singular SLI bridge, 3-way SLI bridge and four SATA 6GB/s data cables, everything to get you going with a decent computer install.

  1. You used BIOS v1.1 on this board? Or did you update it before testing? ASRock state BIOS must be 1.2 or 1.6 for all socket2011 CPUs.
How are you using USB3? This is not implemented in the Sandy Bridge E (or any CPU that I know of)

    1. We used the latest BIOS at the time.

USB3 is implemented through use of a separate controller; usually ASMedia.
