A week ago we saw the new X99 workstation motherboard from ASRock, the X99 WS. Now it has become time to see the gaming variant of this board, called the ASRock X99 Extreme 6.
The board of course supports the Haswell-E processor and has eight DRR4 memory slot that supports up to 128GB of memory. There is an onboard USB port at the top right and 3 dual USB2 headers at the bottom of the board. Two USB3 headers are located above the ten SATA3 6GB/s ports. Onboard power- and reset-buttons as well as debug LED are at the bottom right corner. We can also spot the by now well known Pure Sound 7 chip. It also has an Ultra M.2 slot, three PCIe x16 slot that support SLI and CrossFire setups and two PCIe x1 slots.
Additional power can be supplied to the board by a molex connecter below the CPU area.
On the IO area we can spot two USB 2.0 ports, a combined PS/2 port for mouse and keyboard, six USB 3.0 ports, Dual Gigabit RJ45 ports, eSATA and 7.1 Audio jacks. Close to everything you could need.
ASRock X99 Extreme 6 will be officially released next week, where we’ll find out the exact specifications and price.
