More details have emerged about Assassin’s Creed Origins with a launch pointing at a fall schedule. Rumours have been swirling around the Ubisoft title ever since taking a year off in 2016. It was initially expected to be titled Assassin’s Creed Empire and rumoured to be set in Egypt. More leaks are surfacing as E3 2017 approaches, but some publications and individuals have also begun confirming through their internal contacts that it is indeed true.
Assassin’s Creed Origins will be a reboot of sorts, taking the title back to the very beginning. Aside from the obvious tropes associated with all-things-Egyptian such as sands and tombs, expect some aspects of recent AC games to continue. This includes male and female playable characters from AC: Syndicate. According to insider sources close to WWG, the game is confirmed to be a much open world than previous AC titles. Players may even be able to travel beyond the borders of Egypt, possibly in Greece. This suggests a timeline set in Ptolemaic Egypt.
The gameplay comparison is compared to that of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim which is different from previous AC games. The additional freedom suggests that the game is the most ambitious and biggest Assassin’s Creed game yet. WWG suggests that it took years to develop, unlike previous AC titles. They also report on the return of naval battles and the possibility of being able to sail the Mediterranean.
