In anticipation of the launch of the new Assassin’s Creed game, Black Flag, Ubisoft has been discussing the success of its previous titles. Ubisoft’s UK brand manager Omebline Wallon told MCV that the Assassin’s Creed series had sold 6.6 million units – a pretty impressive number.
“The Assassin’s Creed franchise has already sold over 6.6 million units in the UK and over the past few years it has become a staple in gamers’ diaries,” said Omebline Wallon. “Since we announced Black Flag in March, we have supported it at every beat of the campaign. We will be increasing our media presence as we near launch.”
Ubisoft will be launching an advertising offensive in the UK with TV, online and print campaigns as well as a publicity stunt to take the game on a tour of 20 UK universities. Ubisoft’s sixth game in the Assassin’s Creed series, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, launches November 1st on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U. The game will also launch alongside the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 when they are released on November 22nd and November 15th/29th (North America/ Europe) respectively.
