ASTRO A10 Multi-Format Gaming Headset Review

Final Thoughts

Price

The ASTRO A10 Gaming Headset is available directly from the Astro website, and from many major retailers. It’s available in three formats, and each of those in three colours. It’ll support Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Mobile, Switch, PC, etc. Currently, the headset is just £55, which is very competitive for a multi-format gaming headset from a premium brand.

Overview

ASTRO has clearly put a lot effort into making a unique and affordable headset with the A10. I honestly think they’ve done a fantastic job of it too, and it’s easily one of the best headsets in this price range. Now, I would say that there are a lot of impressive headsets in this price range and you’re spoilt for choice. No discredit to ASTRO here either, I mean this as a compliment, that it’s just as good as any other big name headset in this price range.

A10 Vs A40

If you want an even better headset, then you’re looking at paying over £100 before you get any significant improvements. However, those who want a taste of ASTRO hardware, £55 is very good value for money. If you want to be blown away by amazing audio and destroy your wallet, I still stand by the A40 TR headset and AMP with the ModKit; kiss goodbye to £250 for the privilege of that though. Yet at literally 1/5th of the price, the A10 is not 1/5th of the performance. If anything the price of the A40 only highlights the amazing value of the A10 even further.

Built to Last

The build quality on the A10 is superb, and while it is mostly plastic, you can see that they’re beautifully finished and the headset has a nice understated finish to it. It looks professional but still gives off some “gamer” vibes too. I would have liked a fully detachable microphone, but that’s hardly a deal breaker. I appreciate that the cable is removable though, as that can help prevent breaking it while it’s not in use.

Gaming Audio That Wows

Listening to music and movies is great on this headset, it has a lot of clarity and punch that rivals anything else in this price range. It certainly excels more at gaming than anything else though, as you would expect from a “gaming headset.” The frequency range of the headset works great for competitive gaming and the team chat audio has a nice warmth and natural tone to it. A great headset for gamers at a very reasonable price.

Pros

  • An ASTRO headset at wallet friendly prices
  • Great performance for gaming
  • Good quality microphone
  • In-line controls
  • Unique design

Cons

  • None

Neutral

  • Non-removable microphone, but at least it folds up out of the way

“The ASTRO A10 is the affordable ASTRO headset you’ve been waiting for. It looks stylish, sounds great and it’s not going to ruin your bank balance. Highly recommended!”
