Final Thoughts

Price

The Astro A20 Wireless headset is available now from most major retailers. Right now, it’s on Amazon for around £120 in either the PS4 or Xbox One variant, although others are available. The price is quite steep, but rightly so for such a fantastic quality product. It’s around twice the price of the Astro A10 wired headset, and about half the price of the A40/50 headsets. So overall, it’s the mid-range winner we’ve been waiting for to complete the Astro range.

Overview

The Astro A20 is hitting the market and going up against some pretty hefty competition. Right now, there’s the Logitech G933 Artemis, the Corsair VOID Pro, and the Turtle Beach Stealth 700, which are all around the same price and will go toe-to-toe in terms of cool features and design. The Astro is a little more compact and sleeker, and more lightweight than the competition though, which may be enough to tempt some.

Built-in Controls

The built-in controls are a really nice touch, and they’re much easier to use than most of the headsets with built-in controls I’ve used. They’ve kept things simple, accessible and most importantly, made them easy to customise through the software.

Software

The Command Center software is awesome, and a great way to find the sound you really want. However, I don’t like having lots of peripheral software running all the time on my system. Of course, you don’t need to with the A20, as you can store your profiles directly to the headset. Tinker with the EQ, save it to the headset, close the software, and you’re good to go. This is also true for Xbox and PlayStation use. You’ll need a PC to change the advanced EQ profile, but that profile will work on any device after it is saved to the headset. If you want a bass-less profile with boosted treble for competitive FPS gaming, you can have one.

Comfort

Astro product some of the nicest made consumer headsets on the market. The A20 may have batteries, wireless hardware and more built in, but it’s not gained the pounds as a result. It feels nicely balanced on your head. It stays firmly planted to your ears, but not so much so that it feels like a burden. This is helped in no small part by the high-quality foam and luxuriously soft fabric applied to the headband and ear cups.

Should I Buy One

This is one of the better headsets for around £100, and while it is a little more expensive than some of its rivals, it’s not by a huge margin. It’s lightweight, well made and delivers belting audio performance with extensive EQ options to get things just how you like it. If that sound like the thing you’re after, the Astro A20 is the way to go.
