Astro A50 Wireless Xbox One Gaming Headset Review

Final Thoughts
Price
Price is certainly going to be the downfall for Astro, the headset clocks in at a wallet killing £250 and that’s expensive no matter which way you look at it. However, when you consider the range of features on offer, the build quality and the performance, if you want the best, expect to pay the highest price.
Overview
Astro have done it again, time and time again they’ve shown me that they can make an exceptional headset that will leave your jaw on the floor. Sure it’ll also leave your bank balance looking pretty beat up, but you only need to test it once to be convinced it was money well spent.
Build quality is as good as it’s going to get, short of building the whole thing out of titanium and making it weight about 15KG. The plastics are durable, well finished and there’s soft-touch or hard-wearing finishes applied to every surface. The headband is strong and holds the headset firmly onto your head, but it’s also quite flexible when you twist the headset, ensuring that it won’t break if it’s ever subjected to abuse. The addition of a headset stand is nice too, if you’re conscious about throwing your £250 headset into a drawer, it’s certainly better to have it out on display and it’s less likely to get scratched.
Sound quality is fantastic, we’ve already covered that much, build quality is best-in-class, the feature set covers everything you could possibly need, such as optical pass-through, Dolby, separate volume channels, wireless and more. There really is little else to say about this headset that isn’t already abundantly clear; I struggle to see how Astro could improve on this headset in the future, other than a price reduction, but I’m certainly looking forward to their future products if they can keep up this level of quality.

“Astro have already proven they can make some of the best headsets money can buy, for a range of gaming formats, now they’ve decimated the competition once again with their latest headset for the Xbox One. It’s expensive, but you certainly get what you pay for.”
Thank you Astro for providing us with this sample.
