ASUS, a leading enterprise in the new digital era, today announced it has entered a partnership with SoftKinetic, the pioneering provider of 3D imaging and gesture recognition technology, to provide high quality content for Xtion, the world’s first PC motion-sensing consumer product, providing gesture-based control of PC entertainment in the living room.
With support for intuitive gestures and a friendly user interface, Xtion is perfect for all ages, making traditional PC gaming, multimedia, and online browsing more fun and active. It supports over 30 popular web sites and online services, plus key social networking sites, Facebook, Youtube, Picasa and Flickr. ASUS has developed the Xtion Store, a dedicated outlet for various Xtion apps, with a growing selection of titles. Xtion includes a free three-game bundle with every purchase.
“SoftKinetic Studios has built and produced amazing titles, and we are very excited to deliver these immersive and engaging games on the Xtion,” said Sunny Wu, Product Manager at Asus. “The Xtion includes DanceWall free of charge to all users, and provides a very intuitive and fun experience for friends and family.”
In addition to DanceWall, SoftKinetic Studios is also planning to release other soon-to-be-announced games powered by SoftKinetic’s proprietary gesture recognition middleware, iisu™. The games will be available at the Xtion Store.
“SoftKinetic is really excited to support ASUS for the release of the Xtion,” said Mike Nichols, VP Content & Application at SoftKinetic. “Our iisu gesture-recognition development solution is ideal for developers to build innovative games for this platform. We’re pleased to provide DanceWall as launch title for the system, and looking forward to the release of additional titles for the Xtion.”
ASUS will demonstrate the Xtion at Computex, June 5-9, in the NanGang Exhibition Hall on the booth M0810. SoftKinetic will also demonstrate its technologies and products at Computex in the NanGang Expo Hall, Upper Level, booth N1214.
The Xtion is now available in retail stores around the world.
