ASUS already has a huge product library which spans across various departments including graphics cards, motherboards, peripherals, networking and much more. Their latest creation is a wireless networking adapter sporting an unbelievably high specification. This new flagship is the first card on the market to support dual-band 4×4 AC3100 Wi-Fi with speeds up to 2.1Gbps at 5GHz and 1Gbps at 2.4GHz. Furthermore, the device utilises the 4×4 NitroQAM (1024-QAM) to acquire these astonishing speeds. On another note, the PCE-AC88 includes four antennae which you can directly attach to the card for use as a WLAN client. It’s even possible to attach the antennae to a router-like module which allows you to use the card as a WLAN router using the bundled software.
This is ASUS’ new top-of-the-range model and I’m interested to see how it performs in a number of networking benchmarks. Unfortunately, the company didn’t reveal a price or availability but I’m expecting a fairly hefty asking price for those wanting the absolute best money can buy. Of course, we will be requesting a review sample very soon and letting you know how the device compares to current networking solutions. While this is completely overkill for my purposes, it might be useful to those with greater networking demands.
