With many AIB partners already having their cards either leaked or teasing them themselves, it’s no surprise that ASUS is now revealing their custom RX 480. As expected from the various leaks, the first custom RX 480 from ASUS will be the ROG STRIX edition. What’s more, we’re also getting the release date which may be the same for many AIB partners.
According to ASUS, the STRIX RX 480 will become available on July 19th, a scant few days away. The STRIX RX 480 OC variant boosts up to 1330MHz in OC mode which provides a decent jump over the stock card. There is also a regular version which clocks much closer to stock. ASUS is also claiming that the custom PCB will draw power only from the 2 PCIe power connectors and not from the slot. This should mean OC’s won’t be limited by power hopefully.
Of course, the new trend this year is the use of RGB LED lighting, coming with ASUS Aura RGB Lighting on back the shroud and the backplate. It comes with a DirectCU III cooling solution with three fans, more than enough for the Polaris 10 chip. It’s also quieter as well with 0dB support when under light load or idle. There is no word yet on pricing but looks to be strong competition.
