The ASUS subsidiary Republic of Gamers (ROG) has presented their latest motherboard, an entry line budget board for gamers. The new Asus Z97 Pro Gamer is basically a standard ASUS motherboard with a touch of ROG features, perfect for the budget friendly Pentium G3258 Anniversary Edition that has OC action well into the 4GHz territory.
The Z97 Pro Gamer is designed for the fourth and fifth generation LGA1150 processors and can handle up to 32GB memory with OC speeds up to 3200MHz. Blazing fast storage is guaranteed by the 10 Gbit/s M.2 and SATA Express interfaces and the Intel Gigabit Ethernet adapter should provide a speedy and lag free gaming session with minimum extra CPU load.
ASUS also added the GameFirst II and LANGuard features to further speed up the network connection and help you eliminate that last bit of lag you might have due to packet prioritising. Audio should be supreme as well with the equally named Supreme FX audio and Sonic Radar II features.
Connectivity isn’t a problem for this board either with six USB 3.0 ports (two via header) and eight USB 2.0 ports (six via three headers). You can attach your 7.1 channel audio system to this motherboard and it has an optical out as well. For iGPU processors it has a DVI, D-Sub and HDMI port while legacy input is provided by the dual function PS/2 port.
This new motherboard doesn’t feature all the full-fledged ROG features such as DIGI VRM+, but should be a great base for a budget friendly OC gaming system. No word on price and availability yet.
