ASUS Confirms ROG STRIX GTX 1080 Ti OC Specifications

Earlier in the week, pictures for the ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1080 Ti popped up online. While we were able to glean some details about the card from the photos, no specifications were released. Luckily for us, we now have more official information to share with you. As the top end card from ASUS, the company has outfitted the card to be the top of the line.

As a GTX 1080 Ti, the card features 3584 CUDA cores, 224 TMUs and 88 ROPs. Compared to the stock speeds of 1480 MHz base and 1582 MHz boost, ASUS has upped the core clock to 1708 MHz in OC mode and 1683 MHz in gaming mode. I wouldn’t be surprised either if the card manages to hit the 2 GHz OC demonstrated by the Founders Edition with more relative ease. We also have 11 GB of GDDR5X over the 352bit bus clocked at 11100 MHz in OC mode and 11010 MHz in gaming mode.

Moving on, we have the massive triple fan cooler with the STRIX wing style fan blades and 0dB technology. ASUS has also made the cooler base more fine using MaxContact to improve the connection with the GPU die, reducing the roughness of the surface. However, the cooler base is not meant to touch the PCB and the thermal paste does all the work so MaxContact is unlikely to provide much benefit. A more practical improvement is a 40% increase in heatsink fin surface area which should help cooling. 2 extra fan headers can be used to link GPU temperature to external fans as well.

For power, the card uses dual 8-pin PCIe power connectors and a 10+2 phase design. Due to the fully custom PCB, ASUS has also had the opportunity to throw in a DVI-D port as well. The ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1080 Ti is expected to launch sometime in early April but pricing was not revealed.
