Asus Cube Due for Release

If you use an entertainment device or have been contemplating purchasing a television that has Google TV built in, you might want to consider the new ASUS Cube. ASUS Cube also known as Qube is an Android-based entertainment device. A compact unit featuring the Google TV platform to instantly upgrade your HDTV giving you access to tons of new online content. The Cube is the first Google TV media streaming to feature both motion control and voice search. Their dual sided remote will offer both a microphone and motion control features, to use for searching for shows and for use with apps.

With the ability to easily search for your favorite TV shows with the voice commands, and search you can find shows by name or genre. It will even help you find shows that you might like with the review features. You will also be able to sync a mobile phone or tablet using either iOS device’s or Android device’s, which will also give you the ability to send videos you find on your device to your big screen. ASUS designed an custom interfaced exclusively for use with the Cube, which will give you the ability to access your favorite TV & Movies, Games, Social & Life, Sports, Music, News, Education, Photo, and your favorite apps. Featuring picture-in-picture, you will be able to browse the web on Google Chrome while watching TV or a movie.

If you Pre-Order now from Newegg.com you will get a $10 promotional gift card. The Cube is set for release in the US on April 24th, 2013 with a retail value of $129 (£84), unfortunately there is not a release date for the UK just yet.

The Cube will feature:

  • 2 x USB ports for either plugging in peripherals or external hard drives
  • 2 x HDMI ports one in, one out
  • RJ45 port for wired ethernet networking also with built-in 802.11 N Wi-Fi
  • IR Blaster so you can use 1 remote for both your ASUS Cube and your television
  • Double sided remote with a full QWERTY style keyboard
