It has taken a while for the ASUS Direct CU II OC version of the GTX 780 to hit the market as it wasn’t ready for the GTX 780 launch back in late May, either that or ASUS wanted to have the spotlight all to themselves by releasing it at a later date which is exactly what they have now done. ASUS’s ROG Nordic Facebook Page revealed pictures of the new GTX 780 DC2 OC graphics card which features a dramatically redesigned cooling apparatus.
At the heart of this newly redesigned cooler is four 10mm direct contact copper heat pipes. These feed into a heatsink that has been increased in size and is cooled by a new ASUS CoolTech “360 degree” (we are not quite sure what that means) fan solution. The new ASUS CoolTech fan is something we saw on the Direct CU GTX 670 Mini graphics card, you can see the CoolTech fan demonstration here.
Furthermore ASUS have implemented a custom backplate solution and the card uses a 100% custom PCB, ASUS DIGI+ VRM and SAP (Super Alloy Power) components. The GTX 780 core is overclocked to 941MHz boost, up from 900MHz boost at reference clocks. The memory is run at a stock 6008MHz with 3GB of GDDR5 across a 384 bit interface.
There is no pricing or availability yet, just these pictures.
