On the back of the recently released ASUS Designo MX299Q display ASUS have unveiled another new 2560 by 1080 display. The ASUS PB298Q is a 21:9 ultra widescreen display running an AH-IPS panel with 178 degree viewing angles. The 2560 by 1080 display is paired up with an 0.8cm bezel to give the appearance of a frameless display.
The monitor has an ASUS ergonomic stand for swivel, tilt, pivot and height adjustments. The resolution allows for 33% more horizontal width than normal 1080p and is equivalent to two 5:4 aspect ration 17 inch monitors placed side by side. The monitor is designed to give both a better in-game experience by having a wider aspect ratio, but also a more productive experience thanks to it having room for multiple windows and applications on the same display.
Connectivity includes DisplayPort, HDMI and a pair of dual link DVI ports. The monitor has built in 3W stereo speakers. The monitor has an 80,000,000:1 ASUS smart contrast ratio and 300cd/m² of brightness. ASUS provide “MultiFrame” software to allow users to organise windows so that they don’t overlap, this gives the effect of having multiple displays.
