ASUS DSL-AC88U AC3100 Modem Router Review
Performance: Samba/SMB Shares
The Samba share tests are intended to give you a reference to ordinary storage performance. By using some of the same benchmark apps as we’re using for plain storage tests, you get a reference idea of the relative performance. It’s also a likely usage scenario.
Anvil’s Storage Benchmark
Anvil’s Storage Utilities is a complete benchmark solution used to test any writeable storage drive. It has a variety of settings and options as well as a multitude of tests.
ATTO Disk Benchmark
The ATTO Disk Benchmark performance measurement tool allows to test your storage systems performance with various transfer sizes and test lengths for reads and writes. Several options are available to customise your performance measurement including queue depth, overlapped I/O and even a comparison mode with the option to run continuously.
CrystalDiskMark
CrystalDiskMark is a small HDD and SSD benchmark utility that allows you to measure a drive’s sequential and random performance.
great review , would have like to have seen some elements on its dsl connectivity and performance as the dsl-ac88u is aimed at the dsl market as otherwise you would buy the rt-ac3100 which would pretty much give you the same performance
being broadcom based modem the theory is it should be stable and perform well on poor dsl lines but im guessing only time in the wild will confirm this or not
cheers

Yes, that’s true. Unfortunately, DSL is a thing that’s history where I live and Fibre has become the norm.
However, from what I’ve heard, it does deliver a more stable DSL connection than other routers. It does feature the latest technology in the field, so it’s a fair assumption.
This was indeed a great review. I was looking to purchase a reliable router and I think this would easily suit all my requirements.
