ASUS Registers 20 ROG STRIX AMD 7900 Graphics Cards with the EEC

With AMD’s new Radeon 7900 series of graphics cards set for release on December 13th, the anticipation surrounding them is undoubtedly high, and, arguably, much higher than seen before in any prior AMD GPU platform. Yes, admittedly, this is perhaps mostly due to the fact that Nvidia’s current 40XX offerings are more than a little prohibitively expensive with AMD clearly looking to challenge Team Green, if not in direct performance terms, then at least certainly at the check-out.
While custom models will, of course, be announced at some point over the coming weeks, however, it seems that ASUS might be the first out of the gate as a new EEC listing (courtesy of Videocardz) has spotted that they might be planning as many as 20 ROG STRIX 7900 series graphics cards!
ASUS Register Masses of ROG STRIX AMD 7900 GPUs
Now, as we often say when it comes to EEC listings, a product getting registered is never confirmation that it’ll actually be released. Put simply, we strongly doubt that ASUS will launch as many as 20 7900 XT or 7900 XTX ROG STRIX model variants. – The fact that so many registrations have been made, however, does seem to be a pretty firm indication that ASUS is planning to go in big with the 7900 series.
And based on the consumer reaction so far, can you honestly blame them?
In terms of custom models though, we’d expect to start seeing more firm design leaks around the end of this month, given how attractive the AMD reference design is though, ASUS is clearly going to have to do something pretty special here to grab the attention.
What do you think? Are you planning on getting a 7900 series GPU? If so, which model? – Let us know in the comments!
