As this board uses the A55 chipset and has cut-down component, like the two DIMM slots instead of four, we can only hope that we see good results in our stock tests and hope that the board overclocks well, but we don’t expect it.
Our first step was to increase the voltage to a safe level of 1.475V and then to try upping the multiplier of which we started using the 40x multiplier and found this was perfectly stable. This booted fine and our benchmarks ran absolutely perfectly with no instability. We then tried upping to the 41x multiplier and found similar results. 42x was exactly the same, and we started to get quite surprised that this board could be pushed this far.
We finally settled on a whopping 43x multiplier giving us an overclocked speed of 4.3GHz which is a fantastic push for a board of this nature. We generally wouldn’t have expected this to surpass 4.1GHz, but 4.3GHz was easily achievable and this was without any extra cooling over the CPU or VRM area.
After collecting our results, we also continued to push even further and found that with more voltage we could get to 4.5GHz fairly easily and our temperatures remained fairly low, but AMD don’t recommend this for 24/7 usage.
Straight away we’re gobsmacked that this board can rival and even beat some of the A85X based boards that we’ve tested again on the next few pages.
