ASUS is facing backlash over high repair costs for its RTX 4090 graphics card. Customers are shocked by the company’s quote of $2,750 to replace a minor plastic piece on the GPU’s power connector. This fee approaches the full retail price of the $2,800 card itself.
The issue came to light when a customer shared his experience. Despite the GPU working correctly, ASUS service quoted an exorbitant fee to fix a small chipped plastic clip. This has raised serious questions about ASUS’s repair policies and customer service integrity.
Reddit user ‘Mulgoki’ expressed frustration over the situation. He initially faced a $3,758 charge for the simple repair. This has sparked a community-wide discussion about the reasonableness of such high repair costs.
ASUS’s handling of warranty services is also under scrutiny. Other incidents include accusations of mismanagement and misleading information during the repair process. These issues have tarnished ASUS’s reputation as a top manufacturer in the PC space.
In another case reported by Gamers Nexus, ASUS did not properly address a thumbstick drift issue on another product, the ROG Ally, further highlighting ongoing customer service problems.
ASUS has offered some customers a 30% discount on the repair fee after complaints, but the gesture has done little to quell the dissatisfaction among its user base.
The tech community is urging ASUS to revisit its policies and ensure more reasonable and transparent repair and warranty services. The situation remains fluid, and ASUS has yet to respond formally to the escalating customer grievances.
