ASUS Releases GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Turbo with Blower Design

I think it would be fair to say that ‘blower’ graphics card cooling designs have always been a relatively unpopular choice among the PC enthusiast community. It’s not that there’s anything specifically wrong with them per se. Still, it’s largely agreed that the cooling performance they offer is nearly always below par when compared to traditional fan designs. Not to mention the fact that generally speaking, they’re largely associated with inexpensive reference solutions (such as the AMD RX 480, etc.) – Following a report via Videocardz, however, ASUS has announced the launch of their new GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Turbo. On the whole, though, we’re not entirely sure just how popular this is going to be.
ASUS GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Turbo
Aesthetically speaking, the graphics card is certainly not an eyesore. In fact, it’s quite pleasantly sleek and stylish. Let’s be honest though, for as much as many of us are absolutely desperate for a graphics card of any description, this new release by ASUS is probably not it. No, beggars can’t be choosers, but on a personal level, unless it was very competitively priced, I wouldn’t personally pick a ‘blower’ design. – Perhaps because I still have more than a few bad memories about my harrier jet-sounding PS4.
On the other hand, there will definitely be a market section that will be eying this up with more than a little curiosity. Namely, those who enjoy dabbling in the world of custom loop cooling. Although not always the case, blower cards are usually one of the most popular choices in this respect. The ‘blower’ can be relatively easily removed and, on the whole, nearly always less expensive than more elaborate fan alternatives.
Additionally, ‘blower’ GPUs can often be an excellent choice for consumers who have limited airflow within their case. A factor largely helped by the fact that this is designed to ventilate directly from the rear of the GPU.
What Do We Think?
It should be noted that, at least based on the images, this design is nothing new. It’s basically identical to the existing ASUS GeForce RTX 3070 (non-Ti) Turbo. If this is well priced, however, and admitted in today’s climate that remains a big ‘if’, then this could well prove to be a popular choice with consumers. Rather ironically though, because it won’t be a popular choice with many!
