Ever since the GTX 580 was released, consumers have been loving the performance but hating the styling with its koi reference design. There was nothing unique about it and with sites like us receiving exactly the same product with a different manufacturer sticker on it doesn’t really excite the masses.
It’s now been some time since the launch and Nvidia’s partners are showing their true colours in terms of design flair and exactly what they can do when given a bit of time.
One of Nvidia’s biggest partners is Asus, who have developed the GeForce GTX 580 DirectCU II graphics card and our friends over at NordicHardware have managed to get hold of an image of this mystery product which wasn’t even shown at CES.
Generally we see cards using a dual slot design, whereas this card uses a triple slot design so be sure to make sure your case can handle the room needed for this beast.
We are also aware that it uses a custom PCB on a 10 phase VRM of which 8 phase is on the GPU whilst the other 2 phase are on the memory and are manufacturer using the highest quality components.
The most impressive part of this card is its aluminium heatsink and heat-pipe design which uses a total of 5 heat-pipes which run in collaboration with two x 100mm fans.
Connection wise we can see that this card has dual DVI ports, HDMI and a DisplayPort.
No news on clock speeds as of yet but a monster like this can be expected to have higher than stock speeds.
There is also no pricing or availability structure as of yet, but we are sure this card won’t slip under the radar.
