Asus GTX 660Ti DirectCU II TOP Graphics Card Review

The moniker that this card brands; TOP really does mean that it has Top Overclocking Performance, but for us, what it leaves the factory with just isn’t enough. We wanted to see how much further it could be pushed and therefore found ourselves firing up our trusty tools of the trade to see how far we could push this card, whilst still keeping it stable.

With already the highest factory overclock that we have seen from any 660 Ti, we want to see how select these cards are and how far they really can go. After a lot of tweaking and pushing we eventually settle with a core overclock of 100MHz bringing the core clock speed up to 1159MHz with a boost of 1237MHz. Unlike Asus who have kept the memory at reference speeds, we’ve brought the memory right up to 1740MHz (6960MHz effective). Overall this resulted in the highest overclock that we personally seen to date from a GTX 660 Ti.

We then wanted to check stability and to see what kind of increase we had got from overclocking the card further so we fired up 3DMark 11 to see how the score had changed on the Extreme preset from its original score of 2877 points

Overclocking the card any further as we can see does have an adverse affect on the performance with a performance drop in 3DMark11 of 4%. This comes from the binning and pre-overclocking process that Asus do in their factory and setting the cards overclock right at the top of the performance curve out of the box.
