Asus Launches Maximus VIII Hero Alpha Motherboard

Asus Republic of Gamers has recently unveiled a brand new motherboard named Maximus VIII Hero Alpha, which is based on Intel’s LGA1151 socket and Z170 Express chipset. What makes this motherboard stand out among its peers is the fact that it is the first to offer native support for multi-color RGB LED headers. This should make it appealing to gamers that are not only looking for a feature-rich and reliable motherboard but also one that looks great and offers ample customization options. The RGB LED controller embedded in this product can be is linked to a Windows app that allows the user to set different RGB color lighting schemes across two independent 4-pin headers.

The Republic of Gamers “eye” badge located on the PCH heatsink also boasts an RGB LED that can be customized without too much effort. Apart from these new lighting features, the board is similar feature-wise to the Maximus VIII Hero. Its highlights include a 10-phase CPU VRM, two PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots, four DDR4 DIMM slots and two U.2 16 Gb/s connectors that completely replace any SATA-Express connectors. USB 3.1 10 Gb/s ports and  802.11 ac WLAN are also a part of the package. Given its unique color customization options, the Maximus VIII Hero Alpha will likely come with a higher price tag when compared to the Maximus VIII Hero. Would you purchase this new Asus ROG offering?
