Now that everyone and their dog can start splurging on the GTX 1080, AIB partners have unloaded their custom cards. Yesterday, we got our first leaks of the ASUS ROG Strix GTX 1080, showing off a bit of the card. Today, ASUS has officially launched their first custom ROG STRIX GeForce GTX 1080 GP104-400 graphics card.
The ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1080 comes in both a regular and overclocked version. The stock clocked version features a 1607Mhz base and 1722Mhz boost clock speed, just like the Founders Edition, while the OC variant goes from 1898Mhz base to 1936Mhz boost. Both cards feature DirectCU III coolers with a patented triple wing-blade 0dB fans. ASUS FanConnect also adds in 2 extra 4-pin fan headers for extra targetted cooling. We’re also getting either an 8+6pin or 8+8pin power connector so running into power limits shouldn’t be an issue. You also get a DVI-D, 2x DP 1.4 and 2x HBMI 2.0.
Aesthetically, Aura lighting provides RGD LEDs on the shroud and backplate. These can be tuned in many ways like static, breathing, strobing, GPU temp/load and music. Despite these extra goodies, prices are good with the OC version for $639.99 and the stock-clocked variant with a $619.99 MSRP. With cards like these, it’s hard to see the value of the Founders Edition unless you really need a reference board.
