All anyone is going on about lately is Sandy Bridge, and rightly so as it’s Intel’s 2nd generation Core processors and brings a lot to the table in terms of features, performance and overclockability but imagine coupling that with a board specifically manufactured to harness the potential of these new CPU’s and think of the outcome that could be seen.
Asus have answered your prayers and have now officially announced the Maximus IV Extreme motherboard.
The Maximus IV Extreme uses the ATX form factor and takes advantage of the latest Intel P67 chipset for support with Intel’s 2nd generation processors on the LGA1155 socket; Sandy Bridge. The board uses the red and black colour scheme that we’ve seen before and includes the expected features from the ROG series including ROG connect, IDirect, debug LED, easy-access buttons, voltage measure points, rear panel CMOS reset and much more.
The board will feature four memory slots supporting speeds of up to DDR3 2200, as well as a vast array of connectivity options including four SATA 6Gbps ports and four SATA 3Gbps, two eSATA ports, and 10 USB 3.0 ports.
You will also find 7.1 channel audio integrated and four PCI-Express x16 slots for multiple graphics card configurations.
The board has cropped up on a few retailers including Overclockers UK for a suggested £299.99 inc VAT and has an estimated due date for the 21st January.
