Final ThoughtsWe’re big fans of Asus as a brand and this board shows you exactly as to why, and I’m pretty sure that a lot of you will nod your heads in agreement to us. They seem to harness everything needed for a great motherboard, especially when the ROG team have got their grubby little mitts on it and made it even better after many long nights of tweaking.

We’ve always agreed that the Crosshair series of motherboards are the hottest AMD boards on the market, and now that we’ve had the chance to look at the Intel equivalent, we can safely say that Asus have that market firmly sown up as well.

The Maximus IV Extreme-Z simply does it all, with great styling and a design that we’ve come to expect from any Republic of Gamers based product. Features are also in very high supply with the most extreme functionality for a variety of users on the market, especially catering for overclockers, as you can see we were able to get a comfortable 5GHz from our i7 2600k quite easily with little effort and a fairly low voltage too.

Feature wise, it’s nice to see the addition of some unique features to Asus, such as the Probelt and switches to conserve the amount of power going to the PCI-Express lanes, and speaking of the expansion slots, we can’t wait to get some Tri-SLI action and triple CrossFireX going on with this board at a later date, so watch this space.

With all good things, their is always a downside, and with the Maximus IV Extreme-Z, I’m sure that most consumers will be put off by the price, retailing at £284.02/$359.99USD but we believe in getting what you pay for and you most certainly get the very best for your money with the Maxmius IV Extreme-Z and won’t be disappointed.
