ASUS New PadFone Infinity Revealed – Snapdragon 800, MicroSD and Design Tweaks

ASUS have just unveiled the latest revision of their PadFone Infinity that we told you about nearly a week ago. The new PadFone Infinity was unveiled at an official press event in Taipei and the main changes come as no real surprise Engadget reports. The first major change is that the smartphone has been upgraded from a Snapdragon 600 SoC to a Snapdragon 800 SoC running at 2.2GHz with four cores and the latest Adreno 330 graphics. ASUS have opted to fit the PadFone Infinity with a microSD card slot and as a result they have lowered the internal storage from 64/32GB options on the first PadFone Infinity down to 32/16GB on this new PadFone Infinity. This is because ASUS believes it makes more sense to offer a cheaper PadFone Infinity and allow users to bulk up on extra storage themselves by buying a microSD card.

Another new addition is a secondary microphone that functions as a noise cancellation device. The new phone also has a diamond cut on the metallic rear which gives an overall more solid look than the previous version. The new PadFone Infinity is available in black or white. The new PadFone Infinity receives some software tweaks such as an upgrade to Android 4.2 from 4.1 and overall simplification and improvements of the UI. Current PadFone Infinity users will also see these upgrades too. Information about pricing and availability has not been disclosed yet.
