The box spouts a vibrant design with a black and orange theme, with a large featured image of the player on the middle. Along the bottom edge there are a few highlights on the devices features including its 1080p capability, Dolby Digital output, Gigabit LAN and wireless-n, along with a few of Asus’ playback features such as O!MediaShare, AutoPlay and RightTxT.Turning the box over, we get a bit more information on the systems key features mainly its online entertainment options, most notably Netflix, but also its user-friendly interface, O!Easy technology to make watching and sharing content as fun and easy as possible, and last of all its high speed network connectivity to make streaming content to the system as quick and smooth as possible.
For reference, we find a quick start guide in a number of languages, a warranty manual and a copy of both of these also come on a CD.
To get the player connected up Asus include a HDMI and composite cable and naturally a remote is going to needed. The remote itself is very similar to that of other O!Play media players, but with a couple of subtle yet important differences. Firstly there are a few less buttons on here in comparison to the DVB-T model as these are not required, but what we do have instead is a bright red button towards the bottom of the panel with the Netflix branding beneath it. It doesn’t require a PhD to work out that that takes you straight to the Netflix service form anywhere else within the menus with only the press of a single button.
