ASUS PL-AC56 1200Mbps AV2 1200 Wi-Fi Powerline Adapter Kit Review

Final Thoughts & Pricing

Pricing

The ASUS PL-AC56 Kit with Powerline Extender and AC1200 wireless network isn’t the cheapest, but it’s also one of the best and you get more than just a circuitry kit. At the time of review, the kit can be yours at Amazon for £149.99.

Conclusion

With large homes, it can be a pain to run network cables through it all and a single wireless signal from your router might not be enough to cover everywhere. That’s where this kit comes into play in a multitude. First, it allows you to easily connect up to three wired systems remotely through the circuitry part. On top of that, it also clones your wireless signal and sends it forward from your circuitry adapter. This allows you to add remote coverage for both wired and wireless PCs and other devices with just a single kit and a very easy setup.

The setup is so easy that for the most part, all you need to do is plug the two adapters in and press the clone button to copy your wireless setup. Place the devices where you need them and start to enjoy network connectivity where there were none before. It could hardly be any easier than that.

We also saw a great performance from the PL-AC56 kit. With over 300Mbps, the kit easily was the best that I’ve tested in this apartment and beat other kits by two to three times the speed – then again, the previous kits weren’t 1200Mbps devices either. So while we didn’t get close to the best possible results, we saw an impressive performance in both TCP and UDP transfers.

Another thing I like is that ASUS thought of putting everything in the box, including two LAN cables. There is everything you need to get going right away without further purchases.

Pros

  • Very easy setup
  • Tripple usage: Circuitry kit, Range Extender, and Gigabit Ethernet Switch
  • HomePlug AV2
  • Encrypted pairing
  • Integrated power socket for outlet pass-through

Cons

  • None

“ASUS’ PL-AC56 Kit is the most comprehensive network extension solution that I’ve had the pleasure to get my hands on. Tripple usage with a one-click setup.”
