A Closer Look

As part of their Creator series this motherboard may still have all the features of a high-end gaming motherboard, but it’s marketed more heavily at creatives and content creators, hence the more architectural aesthetic, and honestly, I absolutely love it! I like the less gamer look, it looks more serious, and put simply, it is more serious.

It comes with a powerful VRM configuration, featuring a 16+2+2 80A Power Stage design with their Superior Chokes and Capacitors hardware to ensure durability and stability.

Of course, it still comes with some massive heatsinks too, which will ensure long-term performance stability when performing demanding tasks like rendering, and ensuring you can hit big boost clocks and overclocks on the flagship CPUs from the AMD Ryzen 7000, 8000 or 9000 range.

There’s a strong focus on connectivity and usability here, with four onboard M.2 mounts, with two PCIe 5.00 and two PCIe 4.0, all covered with high-quality and enlarged heatsinks to ensure they run at their best.

There are two PCIe 5.0 PCIe lanes, which isn’t particularly common on X870, but while gamers might not use two GPUs, they do provide an advantage for rendering, content creation, AI and more.

Finally, the rear I/O is extremely capable too, with a plethora of connectivity options that are well-tuned to the creative market. You get USB 20Gbps, 10Gbps, multiple USB4 Type-C with support for USB4 DisplayPort 8K or dual 4K displays, 10GbE and 2.5GbE LAN as well as the latest WiFi7.
