Asus Rampage IV Extreme X79 Motherboard Review

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve had press releases galore, flying into our mailboxes about the likes of Noctua, CoolerMaster and others supporting the new LGA 2011 socket for users with older socket 1366 coolers by the way of a specialist mounting bracket.

Typically a standard socket 1366 cooler will not fit onto a standard LGA 2011 socket motherboard without the use of a specialist mounting kit or bracket.

Asus have answered this by bundling in a specialist bracket for the job, so that users won’t have to fork out extra money on either a new cooler or mounting bracket direct from the cooler manufacturer.

Asus also have compiled a QVL to see if your cooler is specified to work with this new X-Socket bracket.
