Following right on the heels of the official GTX 1060 launch, ASUS has jumped in with their custom variant of the card as expected. Based off of the GP106 Pascal chip, the new GTX 1060 STRIX adds the ASUS ROG STRIX flavor to Nvidia’s mainstream GPU. As expected, the card comes with all of the ASUS features we’ve come to expect.
First off the card is overclocked by quite a bit at 1873 MHz boost in OC mode. This is quite a decent factory overclock compared to the stock frequency and provides a decent jump in performance. The addition of the new DirectCU III cooler with 3 wing-blade fans combined with Super Alloy Power II and improved power delivery are what enable the card to maintain the higher boost speeds. Of course, the STRIX also comes with 0dB fan mode when under light loads and the new industry standard RGB LED lighting with their Aura RGB Lighting.
Next up, we also have the GTX 1060 Turbo and DUAL. These are new product lineups that ASUS has just recently started working on so less is known about them. As we know from the GTX 1070 DUAL, the card features similar fans to the STRIX but with a white and black theme. The Turbo also comes with dual fans but seem to be ‘regular’ ones and a more basic custom model. Hopefully, we’ll get more details as the cards reach retail.
