ASUS Releases Wi-Fi AC RoG Crosshair VI AM4 Motherboard
Ron Perillo / 7 years ago
The RoG Crosshair VI AM4 from ASUS received a slight upgrade in the form of an 802.11ac wireless LAN. This has 2×2 dual-band 2.4/5GHz antennas with the latest MU-MIMO (Multi-User, Multi-in, Multi-Out) feature. With a matching client, users can enjoy 867Mbps wireless transfer speeds. This is in addition to the Intel I211-AT Gigabit Ethernet LAN controller with anti-surge guard for wired networking from the regular Crosshair VI AM4.
The regular ASUS RoG Crosshair VI already has a PCIe x1 slot on that spot that is used to mount this new bundled 802.11ac WiFi card. It is usually obscured by the built-in IO cover. This is why so many users are not able to see it in some promotional photos.
ASUS RoG Performance Back on AMD Platform
It has been a while since ASUS released a Republic of Gamers motherboard on an AMD platform. It took until the release of the much awaited Ryzen, but many enthusiasts are glad that the RoG brand is back with an AMD option. With it of course comes the gaming and overclocking-friendly options that many have come to expect.
ASUS has also expanded the RoG brand to cater not just to overclockers and gamers but to modders as well. The RoG Crosshair VI AM4 is outfitted with 3D-printing mounts so users can add-on and customize its look and function. ASUS even provides some 3D files that modders can use to incorporate in their design.
Feature Packed with Lots of Extras
It will multiple pages just to cover all the features on the Crosshair VI Hero motherboard. For an overview, you can check out the review here at eTeknix from last month. The image above is a handy guide as well, showing what is possibly the best flagship motherboard right now for AMD AM4 in terms of the sheer number of features.
