ASUS Republic of Gamers announced a new and quite impressive gaming laptop for immersive VR gaming that packs a punch in both the hardware and built-in monitor. The new ASUS ROG G701VI is packed with both an i7 Skylake CPU and 64G RAM as well as a GTX 1080 GPU and a G-Sync display.
The system is quite small and slim but doesn’t come close to the latest Razer Pro gaming systems, for example. But it does have some specifications that make it relevant. At the heart of the system is either an Intel Core i7 6820HK or an i7 6700HQ processor that is coupled with an impressive 64GB of DDR4 2400MHz memory on an Intel CM236 chipset.
The visual side is covered by a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card with 8GB GDDR5X VRAM and a 17.3″ (16:9) LED-backlit FHD (1920×1080) 120Hz Anti-Glare Panel with 72% NTSC with G-Sync. There’s also an HD Web Camera installed for those who like to use that kind of thing.
Everything you need can be stored on the 512GB PCIE Gen3X4 SSD RAID 0 setup and there are plenty of connectors too such as USB 3.1 Type-C, USB 3.0 Type-A, RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet as well as HDMI, mini DisplayPort, and Thunderbolt port. The audio part is covered by an ASUS Sonic Studio and it packs a 6-Cell 93-Whrs battery.
The 32.5mm thin ROG G701VI sports the new ROG Bio-Armor design and the new ROG Armor Titanium and Plasma Copper colour scheme. Cost wise, it will set you back a hefty £3099.99 and is available through retailers such as Scan Computers.
