ASUS Reveal New Monitors, Motherboards and More, Oh My!

ASUS

We’ve already seen the fantastic RoG hardware, and their gorgeous TUF hardware. However, let’s not forget that ASUS has a very professional side here at Computex 2019 too!

First up, their absolutely gorgeous ASUS ProART PA32UCX monitor. It is the worlds first mini LED professional monitor, and while my pictures will never do it justice, it’s by far one of the best looking monitor panels we’ve ever seen.

Panel

It features a Mini LED Backlight, with a whopping 1152 dynamic dimming zones, and is able to output a staggering 1200 nits peak brightness HDR. Back this with True 10 Bit colour, and Quantum Dot Tech, it’ll manage 99% of the DCI-P3 scale. That’s figures that would make some cinemas blush.

It’s one of the few monitors that can handle HDR10, HLG, as well as Dolby Vision. This makes it very appealing for those grading content for each format too. Plus, with Dual Thunderbolt 3, it’s well suited to the creative environment.

ProArt PA32UC

While hardly lacking in great features, this one is a lot more affordable (but still very expensive, I’m sure). It “only” has a 284 zone direct-lit LED backlight, with a 1000 nit HDR peak brightness. Of course, that’s enough for it to meet the Ultra HD Premium standard. It still features True 10 Bit and has 95% DCI-P3 coverage. No Dolby Vision on this one, but it will support HDR-10 and HLG, and still also has the Dual Thunderbolt 3 support.

Pro Series Motherboards

First up, we have the Pro WS C246-ACE. An X299 equipped workstation motherboard with the Intel C246 chipset. It features a good range of connectivity and performance cooling on all the hardware. This is important for those overclocking, and also for reliability on those heavy use systems that could be rendering for days on end. The “lower end” model is built for Intel 9th Gen CPUs, so if you don’t want X299, you can also use something like the i9-9900K.

ASUS ZenScreen Touch

This is by far one of my favourite gadgets of the whole show. I hooked it up to my Samsung S9+ via USB Type-C, and it becomes a second display. However, you can connect it up to laptops, PCs and more. It features 10 point touch, and can tap into the desktop mode of my phone too, making it very much into a notebook.

At 100% brightness, the displays built-in battery is good for four hours. It’s pretty light, and no less portable than a tablet of the same size. The screen looks fantastic too. Unfortunately, we don’t have a price. However, it will hit the market later this year.
