ASUS have just unveiled a brand new Z87 motherboard. The Z87-Deluxe/Quad motherboard is apparently the world’s first motherboard to be certified with Intel’s Thunderbolt 2 technology. The ASUS Z87-Deluxe Quad motherboard is ram packed with connectivity options. The device supports the Thunderbolt 2 standard capable of up to 20Gb/s and up to six devices per port, with 12 in total from the two Thunderbolt 2 ports this motherboard offers.
Impressively with two Thunderbolt ports supporting Display Port 1.2 and an onboard 4K ready HDMI port the ASUS Z87-Deluxe Quad is capable of running three 4K UHD displays all at once. This motherboard is really aimed the content professionals where connectivity and functionality matter. The device comes bundled with ASUS’ NFC USB 3.0 device that we detailed yesterday as well ASUS’ 802.11 AC WiFi and antennae.
This motherboard will be priced at a premium over the ASUS Z87-Deluxe and Z87-Deluxe Dual motherboards but naturally you’d expect this given the extensive connectivity options. This is certainly one of the most impressive connectivity-orientated motherboards on the market right now available to consumers. We can’t help but feel it targets a very niche market but if you are part of that market then this motherboard looks like a great option.
