ASUS Reveals More Affordable FreeSync Gaming Monitor – The VG245Q

ASUS has just revealed their new monitor, the VG245Q, which offers up a 24-inch panel targeted at the gaming market, and a reasonable price of just under $250.

The monitor is sporting a 1 ms response time (GTG), so you shouldn’t get any ghosting while gaming. It also offers support for AMD FreeSync technology, which is good news for AMD GPU owners, as it can greatly reduce screen tearing without the use of V-Sync. It uses a full-HD 1080p Tn-film panel @ 75 Hz, which can deliver 250 cd/m² maximum brightness, 170°/160° viewing angles (H/V), and flicker-free LED brightness adjustment.

  • 24inch Full HD gaming monitor with an ultra-fast 1ms response time and GameFast Input Technology for smooth gameplay
  • Dual HDMI ports and one DisplayPort allow you to connect your game console, other HDMI device or PC at the same time
  • Features AMD FreeSync™ technology to eliminate screen tearing and choppy frame rates
  • ASUS-exclusive GamePlus hotkey for in-game enhancements while GameVisual for optimized visuals
  • TUV Rheinland Certification for Flicker-free and Low Blue Light technology to ensure a comfortable viewing experience

The range of inputs isn’t huge, but it has everything you’re likely to need, with 1 x DisplayPort 1.2a (required for FreeSync), 2 x HDMI 1.4a, and one D-Sub. This means you can easily hook up your PC and your games consoles without too much fuss.

“Built for the perfect console gaming experience, the 24” ASUS VG245Q Full HD gaming monitor features an ultra-fast 1ms response time and 75Hz refresh rate. It also has GameFast Input Technology for lag-free experience along with two low input lag HDMI ports and one DisplayPort, so you can enjoy super smooth visuals, and keep it hooked up to two devices. In addition, AMD FreeSync™ technology helps eliminate image tearing for fast gameplay over HDMI input for smooth gameplay.” – ASUS

The monitor also comes with built-in display presets to suit your gaming needs, with profiles for racing, RPG, FPS, etc.
