With the ASUS ROG Ally handheld not far from launch the question of the specific specifications is still in the air most notably with what APU the console is expected to launch with though now from leaked documents we now have an idea.
A shipping manifest for the ROG Ally that has been shared with VideoCardz shows off the hardware specifications for the ROG Ally handheld which include the ‘custom’ APU mentioned by ASUS. The APU in question is set to be the AMD Ryzen 7 7840U Zen4 APU with Radeon 780M graphics and based on the mention of ‘custom’ it is possible ASUS has altered this chip in some way.
Another piece of information discovered is that the Ally features two different product codes, with the RC71L code in the above image and an RC71X code that has been seen on the ASUS and FCC websites. It is unclear what the difference between these product codes is, but I’d hazard a guess that models will feature different memory or storage options as well as possibly different colour options.
The ROG Ally is shaping up to be an incredibly potent handheld option with it looking to offer higher performance than the Steam Deck for a slightly higher expected price.
