ASUS ROG Claymore Gaming Keyboard Pictured

ASUS have been teasing us with the Claymore Gaming Keyboard for quite some time and hopefully, it will be available soon. All signs do point towards an upcoming release as the keyboard showcases for some glamour shots.

Last we heard about the ROG Claymore gaming keyboard was at the start of the year and back then, the release was estimated for Q2 this year. Since that didn’t happen, it’s only reasonable to expect it soon. The ROG Claymore can absolutely be classified as a flagship model as it packs all the bells and whistles, and then some more.

It is a must with RGB these days and in keyboards and it actually makes sense here. That’s especially true when you get full control over it and can assign key areas with colours for easy recognition, or just backlight the hotkeys available for your currently played game, etc. The detachable NUM pad allows the keyboard to work in a duality that otherwise might require two keyboards. You can use it as a full-sized version when you are at home and reduce the size to an 80-key when you’re on the go and heading out to your next LAN. But it is more than the average when connected. It features an additional USB 3.0 port and a vertical multi-function scroll wheel which is assigned a volume control by default.

The Claymore is more than the average keyboard and ASUS implemented additional features such as a BIOS key which boots directly into the UEFI without having to frantically time the correct key presses and direct overclocking of CPU and RAM from the keyboard. There’s no word on what keys will be used yet, but my guess is Cherry MX. The price hasn’t been revealed yet either and it probably won’t be cheap, and flagships rarely are.
