ASUS RoG Gladius II Optical Gaming Mouse Review

A Closer Look

Immediately, you can see this is one very nice looking mouse. It’s got a wide design with curved sides, where you’ll find hard-wearing rubber grips, allowing you to really get a firm hold on it regardless of your playstyle; claw, fingertip or palm rest.

The side buttons are nice and long, with a nicely defined tactile click to them, and there’s a sniper button below those too, which can easily be trigger by just sliding your thumb forwards; that should make nailing those long range headshots a lot easier!

Down the right side, another large rubber grip, which combined with the left side grip makes it easy to lift the mouse off of your gaming surface, while giving you improved fingertip control too.

Both the LMB and RMB switches have their spring mounted panels, each with a deep recess to ensure you have a perfect finger resting position. This is great, as it gives both switches a snappy and responsive feel and excellent control overall. The mouse wheel is nice and large, easy to turn, with a defined tactile bump when rotated. The rubber coating gives it added control, and behind it, you’ll also find a DPI/Profile toggle switch.

On the base of the mouse, there are four slipmats to give you added glide. In the centre, you’ll find that lovely optical sensor. There are four rubber caps here too, pull those out to find the screw fittings to remove the top cover of the mouse, while the locking switch at the front it for releasing the USB cable.

Included in the box, you’ll find two additional mechanical switches. These ones are a little stiffer but have a “clicker” and “snappier” feel to them, while the pre-installed ones are lighter to press. Which is best? That’s up to you to try for yourself!

Simply unscrew the base from the mouse, and it opens out.

Find the switches, pull it out with your fingers; it’s super easy to do!

Push in the new switch and you’re ready to rock! I’m ready to rock too, let’s plug this bad boy in!
